We were starting to wonder if it was possible, but we did -- finally -- manage to find hoppy beer in England! We were so shocked, we recorded a video!
Apparently, there's a big difference between the Real Ale movement, and the craft beer movement. I know... I know... they sound the same. But not so much. We bloody yanks like to load up our beers with massive amounts of hops and or malt. Not so much over here. Still, the guys at Brew Dog know how to buck the local trend, and are making beers loaded with flavor. Are they Real Ales? Honestly, I do not give a shit. For they are welcome relief to the two of us right now!
Also, the food here is quite good. I had the Juicy something or other. It's a burger with pimento cheese spread. Tasty. Sheila had tater tots -- yeah, in England -- loaded with melted cheese and grilled onions. Now, normally I'm not a fan of tots. But these were pretty fantastic. I think I'll order them that way from now on and see if that changes my opinion.
Plenty of Brew Dog beers on tap, plus a dozen or so guest beers on tap. They even had the full compliment of Oskar Blues, and I got to educate our bartender on the the G'Knight origin story. Hooray, beer lore!
Thanks, Brew Dog Manchester, for giving us some beer with flavor. Now to find more!
